Sorry, but Nick Cannon Is Too “Broken” and “Shattered” to Look for Love After Mariah Carey
Welcome to Heartbreak City. Population: Nick Cannon.
The 36-year-old TV personality opened up in a new interview about his dating life and revealed that he hasn’t been able to find love since splitting from his ex-wife, Mariah Carey, in 2014. The former couple — who share six-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe — finalized their divorce in November 2016.
“I can’t [find love]. I'm broken,” Nick told Entertainment Tonight at the Kids' Choice Sports Awards on Thursday, July 12. “I'm shattered.”

Still, the Wild ’N Out host (who, in February, welcomed a baby boy named Golden with ex Brittany Bell) has been making an effort to play the field despite his despondent attitude. “I don't have a girlfriend. I'm always dating,” he said. “Why not? I'm a single man, I'm supposed to date.”
Asked if he’d ever consider reigniting his romance with Mariah, 47, Nick was quick to remind ET that she is currently dating her on-again, off-again backup dancer beau, Bryan Tanaka.
“She’s got a boyfriend! He’s a nice guy,” he said, adding that his marriage with the pop diva was a “special time” — particularly because they “made some amazing children together.”

While he only had nice things to say about MC’s boyfriend on Thursday, Nick previously slammed the pair’s relationship back in February in an interview with Howard Stern. During his chat with the shock jock, the All That alum candidly discussed the way Mariah and Bryan’s relationship was portrayed on E!’s short-lived docuseries Mariah’s World.
“First of all, I think the whole reality show is fake. I’m a producer, so I know how [it works]. Like, you can’t have a well-lit private conversation. Like, that s–t doesn’t happen,” Nick said at the time. “I don’t buy none of that s–t.”
According to the dad-of-three, he made a concerted effort not to watch the show as to avoid Mariah and Bryan’s seemingly made-for-TV love story. “I don’t even get into it. It feels like they wrote [it],” he said. “That s–t is like a soap opera.”
