After making our way through a crowded Times Square, we finally got our hands on a coveted Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino!

Made from 100% rainbows (or at least that’s what the display read above the register), the unicorn drink definitely looks like something a mythical unicorn would sip on.

Bright pink with a blue drizzle and topped with a mountain of whipped cream sprinkled with pink and blue powder, the cold drink was like a liquid double rainbow — even if our barista made it very clear she was not impressed.

Walking back to our office, the drink definitely got its fair share of stares so there is no denying it is visually appealing, but what does it taste like?

Before taking the first sip, we made sure we had enough photos to last a month on Instagram, because we’re journalists, and then proceeded to pop in a straw.

Described as a “crème Frappuccino with (surprise!) mango syrup and layered with a pleasantly sour blue drizzle,” you instantly tasted the drink’s underlying mango syrup before a sour flavor takes over. As you mix, the flavor changes from sweet to sour — but mostly it tasted like liquefied tropical Skittles.

As Starbucks explained in its press release, “The more swirl, the more the beverage’s color and flavors transform.”

On social media, opinions were definitely divided over the “magical” concoction. “That unicorn frappuccino from Starbucks sounds like the most basic white girl drink they could come up with,” one tweet read while another exclaimed, “Couldn’t resist the unicorn frappucino!”

On Instagram, there have already been over 30,000 posts using the hashtag #unicornfrappuccino — and counting.

Available until April 23, we have a feeling this will be our first and last Unicorn Frappuccino.
