"It Felt Like I Was Dead"Teen Mom 2’s Kailyn Lowry Reveals She Was Raped Twice, Opens Up About Abortion in New Book
Kailyn Lowry has exhibited strength countless times on MTV’s hit shows 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom 2.
But fans will be shocked to learn just how much trauma the lovable reality star has endured during her life.
In her new tell-all book, Pride Over Pity, the 22-year-old opens up about losing her virginity at a very young age, an emotional abortion — and reveals she’s been raped twice.
Recalling the first time she prematurely experienced sex, Kailyn writes it took place on a sidewalk when she was just an eighth grader.
“Suddenly, my pants and underwear were pulled down…Our movements and his touch were unromantic,” she pens. “When it was over, I ran home, blood trickling down my leg.”
She knows now she was far too young to experience intimacy.
“I was too young to understand that I wasn’t ready— physically or emotionally— for sex,” she writes. “I believed then that I had to have sex to keep up with my friends.”
Kailyn then discusses her two tragic rapes, with one resulting in a pregnancy and abortion.
A sexual encounter with a boyfriend named Toby in ninth grade turned violent. Though he knew she didn’t want to go through with it, she was eager to make him happy.
“Toby wouldn’t take no for an answer…. I didn’t want to sleep with [him], but he persisted. Denying him seemed fruitless. I believed Toby loved me, so I decided I could give him this one thing as long as we wore a condom,” the mother-of-two recalled.
He refused, and she later discovered she was expecting her first child while taking a pregnancy test in a Walmart bathroom.
In excerpts obtained by RadarOnline, she wanted to keep the baby, but her mother, Suzi, persisted her to have an abortion. It took place on her 16th birthday.
“I swear they didn’t just suck out my uterus…It felt as though they had taken every fiber of my being…I felt a mother’s grief,” the reality star explains.
But the traumatic experiences didn’t stop there, as Kailyn was raped again after welcoming son Isaac.
The TV personality claims after innocently hanging out a few times with a man named Caleb, he showed up at her door and overpowered her.
“He was plastered and insisted he needed to talk to me, so I let him in,” she writes. “But he had no interest in talking. He pulled me into the bedroom and slammed me onto the bed, taking my clothes off roughly…His strength was overpowering. I felt a tear and knew I was bleeding….It felt like I was dead.”
The Kailyn of today is a much happier one. With all the years of pain and abuse behind her, she now lives a happy life with husband Javi Marroquin, whom she married last September.
The duo welcomed son Lincoln Marshall in November.
Kailyn’s book is set to hit shelves April 22.
