Teen Mom OG star Tyler Baltierra isn't one to hold back about his troublesome childhood. The MTV star shares graphic details of his horrific upbringing in his new book, 'Conquering Chaos,' written with fiancée Catelynn Lowell.
One particular story didn't make it to print … perhaps because it was too dark or maybe he wasn't ready to share it yet. But he is now.
In a new interview, Tyler reveals he attempted suicide at the age of 12.
“I tried to hang myself in the backyard of my house,” he told 'Radar Online.' “Being so young, I was naïve on how the process actually worked. I thought if I jumped, it would snap my neck and I would die instantly. I didn’t think about the struggling and choking and while it was happening, I realized it wasn’t going to be quick. It gave me time to think.”
While thinking, the 23-year-old had second thoughts about ending his life and decided to remove the rope from around his neck, which left him with a terrible burn mark that lasted weeks.
He didn't disclose the reasoning behind his suicide attempt, but did allude to the fact that bullying may have been involved.
“Nowadays you see all the headlines. Kids are getting bullied, especially in the LGBT community,” he said. “It’s a topic that needs to be talked about. Hopefully, people can learn from it.”
