The full package! Camille Schrier was crowned as the new Miss America 2020 on Thursday, December 19, and she’s taking everyone’s breath away, but it’s not just because of her looks. Besides being drop dead gorgeous, the 24-year-old is also a scientist.

Camille performed a science experiment for the talent portion of the competition, which showcased her talent. The Virginia native, who’s a biochemist, will now be able to further her education thanks to the $50,000 scholarship which was granted to her for winning the Miss America title.

Positivity sure seems to go a long way — especially for Camille, who remained in good spirits before she was crowned winner. “Walking into the final day of Miss America with overwhelming peace. Tonight is a win-win situation … I either get the COOLEST promotion ever, or I return home as Miss Virginia!” she wrote on Instagram hours before the competition kicked off.

She continued, “There are NO BAD OUTCOMES … How awesome is that?! I’ve savored every single minute of this once in a lifetime experience and I’m grateful to have had the chance to represent the Commonwealth of Virginia and bond with some of the most amazing women from every corner of our country. SPECIAL THANKS to every single person who has sent me words of support and encouragement this week, watched online and will be tuning in tonight … I am SO INCREDIBLY THANKFUL FOR YOU! Prayers up and TVs on!”

Tomorrow, this little girl checks in to competes for the job of Miss America. If you had told her this when these photos were taken…she would have NEVER believed you. She was a little weird & quirky, and liked bugs, animals and dirt more than dresses…and she still does. She didn’t always fit in. She went to Las Vegas in 2013 and watched in awe as Mallory Hagan became the new Miss America. But SHE could never be Miss America, right? She didn’t sing, dance, or play an instrument. She didn’t want to walk on stage in a swimsuit either, it just wasn’t for her. But Miss America sure was cool…too bad she just wasn’t cut out for it. She never thought in a million years that she could EVER go to Miss America…but now she’s about to. Here’s to all the little girls who are a little different than the rest. Here’s to those who think that something is impossible and try for it anyway. It’s OK to be yourself…sometimes it will land you on the Miss America stage. The brunette beauty also serves as an amazing role model. On December 10, she took to IG to get candid about what it was like growing up as a kid who “didn’t fit in” and was “weird, quirky, and liked bugs, animals and dirt more than dresses.” Thanks to this major milestone, she’s proving to society that you don’t have to settle or change who you are. “Here’s to all the little girls who are a little different than the rest,” she wrote. “Here’s to those who think that something is impossible and try for it anyway. It’s OK to be yourself … Sometimes it will land you on the Miss America stage. This one’s for you.”
