After nine years of marriage, Kendra Wilkinson announced she was divorcing her husband Hank Baskett in an emotional video on Instagram. Now, it is being reported that the main factor in her decision to split from the former NFL star was to protect her two children.

“The decision was made for her kids,” a source told Us Weekly. “She wants them to be in a healthy environment and that’s why she decided to go through with this.” However, the insider clarified that “Hank didn’t do anything specific to the kids to make this happen.”

Kendra, 32, opened up to fans on social media before filing for divorce — and revealed that she was sad and scared. “I did everything I could, it wasn’t good enough,” she said between tears. “I will always love him and my heart will always remain open to him. I believed him forever. I really did. Guess it’s just not meant to be.”

She continued, “I’m so scared but I have to get strong for my kids. I will.” Kendra and Hank share eight-year-old son Hank IV. and daughter Alijah, 3. The couple, who tied the knot in 2009, has had a rocky relationship, to say the least.

In 2014, Hank got caught in a cheating scandal after trans model Ava London alleged that she had an affair with the professional athlete during Kendra’s second pregnancy. Despit the infidelity, the couple was determined to make it work and appeared together on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars shortly after.

“I’m finding the trust again,” she said at the time. “And I’m actually very happy Hank went through this now because he’s able to teach his son and his daughter what it’s like to make a mistake and what you do after making a mistake.”

However, more recently, Kendra hinted there was trouble in the bedroom. “We have already threatened divorce probably five times,” the former Playboy model told In Touch. “At the end of the day, the downside of being married is the temptation all around. You know, the sexual temptations. I am not going to lie — I am a sexual person. I am a 32-year-old person, and sometimes the temptation calls. My fantasies are very strong, let’s just leave it like that.” Our thoughts are with Kendra and Hank during this difficult time.
