After walking off with three Brit Awards -- the U.K.'s equivalent of the Grammys -- on Feb. 16, Lady Gaga should've been on top of the world. But backstage at the awards, where Gaga had been scheduled to perform an over-the-top medley of her greatest hits "she didn't really leave her dressing room," an insider tells Life & Style. "She looked so skinny." Then, at the last minute, the star scaled back her performance, turning it into a somber tribute to fashion designer Alexander McQueen, who designed many of Gaga's most famous looks and had died five days earlier. The changes not only angered producers but left her having to cancel a photo shoot. "She was supposed to have done a photo shoot with Vogue," says the insider, "but she didn't have time because she left the [Brit Awards] performance changes until so last minute."
Fame may have gone to Lady Gaga's head, suggests an insider at the Brit Awards. "During the ceremony, she was surrounded by 10 burly bodyguards backstage," the insider tells Life & Style. "And her makeup artist touched her up every 10 minutes. It was insane."
At the Universal Music's Brit Awards afterparty, witnesses say Gaga seemed more run-down than ever. "She was overheard telling a girl how exhausted she was and that she didn't know if she was in the mood to celebrate," an onlooker tells Life & Style." That same night, Gaga was spotted chatting with notorious party girl Courtney Love-- not exactly a good influence. "Courtney managed to barge in front of everyone so she could get to Gaga," an insider tells Life & Style. "Courtney kept shouting at her, 'I think you're amazing.'"
