Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus Are Secretly Engaged (EXCLUSIVE)
Just four months after going public with their relationship, Ben Affleck is planning a wedding with Lindsay Shookus, Life & Style has exclusively learned. “Ben and Lindsay are completely in love and secretly got engaged last month,” an insider reveals. “Only their very closest friends know.”
And the pair is doing their best to keep the news under wraps. “They’re currently shopping for rings, but they agreed she won’t wear one immediately so they can keep their engagement private,” the insider says. “They want to show some respect for their families since it’s all happened so fast.”
After all neither Ben nor Lindsay is officially divorced yet. While Jennifer Garner — who shares three children with the Batman actor — filed court papers seven months ago, Lindsay’s estranged husband, Kevin Miller, still lives in the same NYC apartment building as the Saturday Night Live producer, where they co-parent their four-year-old daughter. They first filed divorce papers in September 2015.
Though their exes present a hiccup, the couple is still focused on planning a beautiful wedding, which won’t be a huge Hollywood affair. The ceremony will be “private, at a home and not at a church, with only close friends and family,” the insider explains. And it will most likely take place on the East Coast “since that’s where [Lindsay’s] based. It will be much easier for Ben’s mom, too, since she lives in Boston. Ben and Lindsay both love the Hamptons and have discussed Montauk as an ideal location for a wedding.”
Though Jen has moved on since trying to save her marriage to the Oscar winner, seeing the father of her children walk down the aisle with someone else won’t be easy. “This whole ordeal has been mortifying for Jen,” the insider says. “She’ll put on a brave front for her kids. She’ll act like it’s no big deal, but will be very deeply hurt.”
