Lea Michele Announces First Single, "Cannonball," From Her Debut CD, Louder
The cover art features the songstress with messy wet hair and dark eye makeup in a sleeveless black top. It’s very Alanis, if you ask us.
The piano-driven melody “Cannonball” showcases Lea’s powerful vocals.
“Break it down / I was scared to death I was losing my mind / I couldn’t close my eyes I was pacing all night / I think I found the light out the end of the tunnel / I couldn’t find the truth I was going under,” she sings. “But I won’t hide inside / I gotta get out, gotta get out / Gotta get out, gotta get out / Lonely inside and light the fuse / Light it now, light it now, light it now.”
The album became available for pre-order midnight last night. Lea had been working on Louder since Sept. 18, 2012. "It's a pretty slow process right now, so I think we are figuring it out as we go, but I do want to make a pop album rather than a Broadway standard album," she said at the time.

In the December issue of Elle, Lea revealed that she added the track "You're Mine" to the album last minute. The song is inspired by her relationship with late boyfriend and Glee co-star, Cory Monteith, who passed away on July 13 from a mixture of drugs and alcohol.
“The album was done, and the label said: ‘Do you want to add anything?’ I was like, ‘I might regret it if I don’t,” she shared. “It makes me so happy, this song. It makes me think so much of Cory. It was ours. When I think of him, I play this.”
