Dude, not this nonsense again!
Joaquin Phoenix, who famously underwent a public meltdown in 2009 — which later turned out to be an elaborate hoax, announced his engagement to a yoga teacher on 'The Late Show with David Letterman,' only to admit the very next day that it was fake.
The actor appeared on 'Good Morning America' to confess that he lied about proposing in order to "spice up his story a little bit" on the talk show — because inventing an engagement is clearly the way to do it!

"I think my life's so boring, and it seemed like something exciting to talk about, and I wanted the audience to like me," he further explained. "They really like people getting married. I can get engaged again, if you like."
The Oscar nominee went to great lengths to make his story believable, telling David Letterman that he fell in love with his fictional fiancée while attempting a yoga position called "harnessing the hog." (Is that even a real pose? Yoga experts, weigh in!)

"I think she's the one," the 'Her' star even told the host of the teacher, who may or may not be real. "I proposed to her and she said yes. If everything works out...so far, so good."
Um...we think Joaquin's next trip shouldn't be down the aisle, but to the looney bin! Watch his super weird hoax below:
