Mindy Kaling may be a successful writer, actor and producer (the list goes on and on), but that didn't stop one older gentleman from mistaking her for 17-year-old Pakistani youth activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.
According to a piece in the New York Times, the 35-year-old star of "The Mindy Project" was at NYC's Boom Boom Room for The New Yorker Festival's after-party when she was approached by the elderly guest.
“Congratulations on your Nobel Prize,” he tipsily said, before expressing how remarkably she had recovered from her gunshot wounds inflicted by the Taliban.
“Did he really think I’m Malala?” the Massachusetts native, who is of Indian descent, said after he left. “And that if I were, I’d be at the Boom Boom Room?”
The comedy queen further joked about the mistake after the piece was published, tweeting:
Honored to have been mistaken for @MalalaFund! (yes, a little bit because she is 17). http://t.co/UD0kpqSwmX— Mindy Kaling (@mindykaling) October 26, 2014
