A Night of Hope: Connecticut Children’s Foundation Hosts the Golden Ticket Gala
On November 2, 2024, the Connecticut Children’s Foundation held its highly anticipated Golden Ticket Gala at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. This signature event, a highlight of the city’s philanthropic and social calendar, gathered celebrities, influential community members, and dedicated supporters for a night focused on generating essential funds for Connecticut Children’s, a health system distinguished by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top children’s hospitals in the nation and the only health organization in the state wholly committed to pediatric care.
The gala was designed to be more than just an evening of elegance and entertainment. It aimed to secure vital resources that would bolster Connecticut Children’s mission of delivering personalized and innovative care to every child in Connecticut. Thanks to the unwavering support from donors, the foundation was poised to expand its clinical capabilities, offer groundbreaking treatments, and ensure that all children, irrespective of their circumstances, received the care necessary for their well-being.

With a whimsical Willy Wonka theme, the Connecticut Children’s Golden Ticket Gala was a night of enchantment and purpose, featuring a lively cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, captivating live auction, and unforgettable entertainment. Guests were welcomed on a glamorous red carpet, where notable Hollywood personalities showed their support for Connecticut Children’s mission to deliver healthcare that goes ‘Beyond Imagination.’
The evening’s Master of Ceremonies, Brent Morin—star of Netflix’s I Am Brent Morin—donned an authentic Willy Wonka costume, charmingly guiding attendees through the event’s many highlights. Thanks to foundation board member and recent Connecticut resident, publicist Jane Owen and husband Filmmaker Fernando Ferro, Hollywood stars including The West Wing’s Richard Schiff, Matlock’s Jason Ritter and David Del Rio, Flaked’s David Sullivan, The Good Doctor’s Sheila Kelley, and Bel-Air’s Jimmy Akingbola joined the celebration. These generous celebrities traveled from across the country to support the hospital’s transformative work in pediatric care, standing as champions for Connecticut Children’s commitment to compassionate, cutting-edge healthcare for the youngest patients.

Paulanne Jushkevich, President of the Connecticut Children’s Foundation, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the community’s overwhelming support and the many distinguished guests who attended to raise awareness and funds. She highlighted how the event would allow Connecticut Children’s to continue pushing the boundaries of pediatric care and research, bringing hope and healing to children and their families.
The evening started with a silent auction that included diamond jewelry, sports memorabilia, plenty of activities and skincare and makeup products provided by brands like Cover Girl and La Roche-Posay, and culminated in a Bid for Kids live appeal that specifically targeted a crucial initiative within Connecticut Children’s expansion plans: the Advanced Cellular & Gene Therapy Unit. This cutting-edge facility was part of the new eight-story clinical tower under construction in Hartford. Its establishment meant that children could receive life-saving pediatric bone marrow transplants locally, alleviating the burden of traveling out of state for critical care.
Guests also had the rare opportunity to engage with Connecticut Children’s dedicated healthcare professionals, hearing directly how their contributions would further advance pediatric care in the region. This personal interaction deepened the guests’ understanding of the event’s significance and the tangible impact of their support.
Connecticut Children’s Gala had earned the reputation of being the region’s Best Charity Event for four out of the last five years, a recognition attributed to the hard work of the Gala Planning Committee and the generosity of sponsors. Once again, SouthOcean Capital Partners served as the Gala’s Presenting Sponsor, joined by All Waste Inc. as the Hatful of Dreams Wi-Fi sponsor; Rotha, as the Scrumdiddlyumptious Auction sponsor; The Manafort Family Foundation as the Surprise and Delight sponsor; and additional sponsors including Metro Realty, Harvest Properties, TOMZ Corporation, Danaher Lagnese, PC, and Johnson Brunetti.

The ground breaking funds of $2.6 Million dollars raised during the gala were directed toward Connecticut Children’s, allowing the health system to invest in innovative research, advanced technology, and treatments that ensured every child received the individualized, expert, and compassionate care they deserved.
The event was brilliantly organized and took place at the Connecticut Convention Center, which was transformed into a magical candy wonderland complete with a golden ticket magical tree of prizes, a fizzy lifting cocktail that was purple and sparkling provided by Tito’s vodka, and more whimsical elements to surprise and delight guests.
Although the mood was fun and joyous, the seriousness of the overarching goal was clear: to raise vital funds to support Connecticut Children’s, the state’s only health system fully dedicated to children and their medical and mental health needs.

Connecticut Children’s stands out as the sole health system in Connecticut that is entirely focused on pediatric care. This commitment translates into high-quality services across over 30 specialties at more than 40 locations throughout Connecticut, Eastern New York, and Western Massachusetts. Their mission encompassed improving access to healthcare from before birth through adolescence, continually pushing the limits through groundbreaking research and community partnerships. By choosing Connecticut Children’s, families can expect care that transcends imagination, reinforcing the foundation’s core mission and objectives.
As the gala successfully wrapped up, raising a phenomenal amount for the cause, it was clear that the stars had aligned for the Connecticut Children’s Foundation. The event not only celebrated the generosity of supporters but also set the stage for future advancements in pediatric healthcare, ensuring every child could access the care they needed to flourish.
