Stoll & Co: 43 Years of Excellence in Craftsmanship and Service

Stoll & Co. started over 43 years ago in Dayton, Ohio as a one-man business. In 2024, 40 watchmakers tend to the needs of their customers while a large support staff of 20 people perform non-watchmaking tasks such as data entry, package preparation and office operations. The business’s successful growth is the result of the high-quality watch repair work performed by the watchmakers, along with unparalleled customer service.

Building on Excellence

When starting Stoll & Co., Ron Stoll didn’t take out a business loan or borrow money nor was there any advertising or marketing. The company grew, because from the moment it opened, Ron Stoll was focused on one thing: quality. It was important to build a reputation that would garner trust from existing customers and potential ones. Stoll explains that the company was built like a watch and grew one repair at a time. The company’s growth was built on the reputation it garnered among its customers.

Stoll also concentrated on expanding his business by “seizing opportunities.” One opportunity, in particular, was vital to the expansion of Stoll & Co. Stoll hired an award-winning watchmaker from the Philippines as the first employee, who remains with the company 40 years later.

Offering watchmakers the best career path possible was Stoll’s key to building a successful business. Stoll invested in the best equipment and provided the chance for growth in the watchmakers’ careers. Stoll’s investment in creating the best workplace for watchmakers paid off and allowed him to build a staff with 550 years of cumulative experience. The quality repair work provided by the watchmakers at Stoll & Co. established its stellar status.

Valuing Watchmakers and Delivering Outstanding Service

Ron Stoll is an experienced watchmaker with years of experience. He got his early start in the back of a jeweler, where he started Stoll & Co. Meanwhile, his daughter, Emily, vice president who heads business development for Stoll & Co., grew up in watchmaking shops. Together, they have overseen the expansion of Stoll & Co. The company’s watchmakers now service over 100,000 watches annually. Over the years, the company has received numerous certifications and awards from major brands and watchmaking organizations.

Ron Stoll understands the value of the watchmakers that work for him. Along with his daughter, he has invested in the future of watchmaking by sponsoring students as they learn the profession. Stoll & Co.  also offers “highly competitive pay packages” to the watchmakers who come to work for them.

There are 5 times the number of watchmakers on staff than any other independent watch repair service, which enables personalized work on each piece. Stoll & Co. assigns a

watchmaker to each watch that comes in for repairs. All the watches are tracked through the facility with an RFID tag. Each repaired watch undergoes three days of quality control to confirm that it is running properly before it is considered complete. There is a multi-day timekeeping review and a power reserve test to confirm it is working correctly before it is packaged and returned to the customer.

The company also has partnered with eBay as an authenticator for watches sold on its platform assuring it is a trusted online store for purchasing watches. Stoll & Co. employs a team of 14 experts to process the watches that are sold and verify their authenticity. This process protects the buyers and the sellers against the prevalence of fakes.

Stoll & Co.’s excellent service has earned the trust of customers from across the globe.
