13-Year-Old Girl in Texas Escapes Potential Kidnapping on Walk to School
A 13-year-old girl in Galveston, Texas, managed to escape potentially being kidnapped on her walk to school when she bit the man trying to take her.
The incident took place on Monday, October 27, at approximately 6:58 a.m. According to a press release shared via Facebook, Galveston Police Department officers responded to the city’s Central Middle School after receiving calls that a student “had been approached and grabbed by an unknown man” on her way to school.
The girl told police she was walking to school from her family’s East End apartment when “she heard footsteps approaching from behind, near the 900 block of 28th Street,” per the release.
When she was approached by the man, she bit him twice before she managed to escape.

“The student reported that a man grabbed her from behind. After a brief struggle, during which the young victim bit the assailant twice, she managed to break free and ran directly to Central Middle School,” police said of the incident.
Authorities noted that the “victim did not sustain any physical injuries during the incident.” Once she arrived at the school, she shared what happened and teachers contacted the police.
An alert was issued to local medical facilities “to notify [them] if anyone sought treatment for bite-related injuries,” according to the release.
The student’s parents then reported to their daughter’s school, and they “accompanied officers back to their apartment and retraced the student’s route to identify where the incident occurred.”

Officers later found security video footage from a business in the 1000 block 24th Street, which showed the young girl walking through the area before a man seemingly started to follow her on the same path.
“The suspect appears to be a White or Hispanic male wearing a black short-sleeve shirt, blue jeans and what appeared to be a ski mask,” police said about reviewing the security footage.
No arrests have yet to be made in the case. Police have asked the public for help in identifying the suspect, while anyone with information has been urged to come forward.
