Amanda Bynes Shares Ozempic Weight Loss Update After Dropping 28 Pounds
Amanda Bynes is speaking candidly about her recent weight loss and how it’s affected her confidence.
The former actress, 39, shared a photo of herself on Instagram Stories on Monday, December 22 alongside an honest caption about her body journey. “I usually don’t like paparazzi pictures bc I was 180lbs but now I’ve lost 28lbs on Ozempic! I’m down to 152lbs. I know I still look big but this photo is really inspiring to me!” she wrote.
In the snapshot, Bynes is seen walking down a sidewalk wearing ripped jeans and a Lady Gaga T-shirt. She accessorized the look with a structured blue handbag, balancing a polished touch with an otherwise laid-back, casual look.
Bynes has previously addressed public speculation about her appearance and behavior. In an interview with Paper in 2018, she said, “I literally couldn’t stand my appearance in [Easy A] and I didn’t like my performance. I was absolutely convinced I needed to stop acting after seeing it.”
She added, “I was high on marijuana when I saw that but for some reason it really started to affect me. I don’t know if it was a drug-induced psychosis or what, but it affected my brain in a different way than it affects other people. It absolutely changed my perception of things.”
Bynes’ struggles with substance use and mental health have been public since 2012, following a series of arrests that resulted in her being placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold. She later spent five months in a treatment facility in 2013.
The actress also opened up about her behavior to Paper. “It definitely isn’t fun when people diagnose you with what they think you are. That was always really bothersome to me. If you deny anything and tell them what it actually is, they don’t believe you. Truly, for me, [my behavior] was drug-induced, and whenever I got off of [drugs], I was always back to normal.”
She has also kept fans updated on her mental health. In March 2024, Bynes shared via Instagram Story that she was “doing a lot better now” after struggling with depression.
A few months later, in June, she revealed plans to start Ozempic, telling followers, “I’m going on Ozempic. So excited. I’m 173 now so I hope to get down to like 130, which would be awesome so I look better in paparazzi pictures.”
