Here’s What We Know About Those Tate McRae and Jack Hughes Dating Rumors
Tate McRae must be a really big fan of hockey! The singer-songwriter was just spotted out and about with NHL player Jack Hughes on what appeared to be a date in New York City — so, are they really dating?
The rumors began on November 21, after the two were seen grabbing dinner at Anton’s in NYC according to photos shared by Deux Moi. Per the gossip site, “the entire restaurant was staring” and claimed Jack “seemed nervous, like was looking around a lot when they first sat down.”
So far, neither Tate nor Jack has commented on their relationship. But the sighting has definitely sparked some dating speculation from fans — especially given the singer’s recent dating history. Just a few months ago, Tate and The Kid LAROI split up after a year-long relationship. The pair reportedly began dating around January 2024, and ended things this summer. Though rumors swirled online afterwards, LAROI shut down the speculation with a post on X in July 2025.
“Tate and I are on good terms,” he wrote in a text message screenshot, shared with his followers. “And this just looks messy / whack.”
He added that he had “NOTHING to do” with online criticism of Tate, writing, “I DO NOT co sign this behavior whatsoever.”
If Tate really is dating Jack, this wouldn’t be the first hockey player in her love life. The “greedy” singer previously dated NHL forward Cole Sillinger from 2021 to early 2023 — and they actually had a pretty cute romance story. After Cole named Tate as his celebrity crush in an interview, mutual friends (including Tate’s own brother) introduced them.
“He’s one of my brother’s friend’s friends so it all worked out,” McRae told Entertainment Tonight in 2022. “But it was really funny — I was like ‘I can forever hold this over you ‘til the day you die, that I was your celebrity crush.’”
Their relationship eventually fizzled in 2023, which led her to create a music video to her breakout hit “greedy” that was completely hockey-themed — and many took this as a subtle nod to her hockey-playing ex. And now, with her rumored connection to Jack, fans are convinced she may be stepping back onto the ice once again.
In a December 2023 interview with Eliott King, she set the record straight about how she handles breakups — and the inspiration behind her music.
“I still have good relationships with my exes,” she said. “I’m not bashing them. Even the song ‘exes,’ it sounds like it’s a ‘diss your ex’ record, but it mostly is like dissing myself. It kind of talks about how bad I am in a relationship and just all the things that I do to sometimes self sabotage.”
