Bachelor’s Grant Ellis Shares His Picks for Bachelorette Amid Series Pause: ‘So Many Great Ladies’

The Bachelor star Grant Ellis weighed in on who he thinks should be the lead of The Bachelorette after it was announced that the series is on pause before season 22.

“There’s so many great ladies there — I can’t say all of them,” Grant, 31, told E! News when asked which women from season 29 should get their own shot at love as the Bachelorette in an interview published on Thursday, March 6. “I think Bailey [Brown]‘s Great. Think Alexe [Godin] is great. I think Allyshia [Gupta]’s great. I think Dina [Lupancu] is great.”

After he listed a few of his exes that he believes would do great in the leading role, Grant added that he thinks all of the women that appeared on his season are “wonderful.” He continued, “Those are just some, but honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised of any one of them.”

Dina, 31, also spoke to the outlet about who should be the next Bachelorette following her elimination after the hometown dates during the Monday, March 3, episode. “You would get such a different season with every single girl,” she admitted. “Let’s give it to Parisa [Shifteh]. I think she would be so funny. She would get, like, the quirky guys. I think she would be a great Bachelorette.”

Both Grant and Dina weighed in on who they think should be the show was going on hiatus and will not air during its normal spring time slot. Meanwhile, Deadline reported on February 7 that The Bachelorette “will likely come back to the Disney-owned network in the future” and that it’s “unlikely to air this year but insiders have not completely ruled out its return later this year.”

Franchise host Jesse Palmer later insisted that The Bachelorette will eventually return for season 22, though it’s currently unclear when. “The good news is I know it’s not going away. I know it’s definitely coming back,” the retired athlete, 46, said while appearing on the February 11 episode of the “Playing the Field” podcast. “Without being able to get into too much of the creative decisions on it, I know that when it does, I just think it’s going to be absolutely tremendous.”

“I can’t get too far in depth with a lot of the creative decisions that went into that,” Jesse continued. “I know it’s not unprecedented for The Bachelorette not to air in the summer.”

After the show’s pause was announced, several members of Bachelor Nation shared their reactions to the decision. Season 21 Bachelorette Jenn Tran admitted that the decision “was a surprise” to her while speaking to People on February 19.

“The franchise has been going on for so long. Sometimes you hear things like why [shows go on pause],” she told the outlet at the time. “I have no idea why and what’s going on there. I really have no idea.”

Jenn went on to share one theory on why the show was taking a break before season 22. “The Bachelorette does usually air in the summer when people are traveling — I heard that it doesn’t do as well as The Bachelor, which airs in the fall, where people are home and ready to watch TV,” the Dancing With the Stars alum said. “So maybe it’ll give a chance for the next Bachelorette to air at a time where there’s more visibility. That would be nice.”
