It’s not easy opening up about postpartum depression, but Behati Prinsloo recently got candid about her experience and how her husband, Adam Levine, helped her get through the difficult time.

“Being a mom has changed me in many ways,” she told Today on Wednesday, June 19. “I had moments of postpartum [depression] after our first baby that I felt like it was coming through. But my husband was so incredibly supportive and always got me out of it. I think it’s very normal, though, as a young mom and a new mom to feel helpless and to feel overly emotional, you know.” The model, 31, shares two daughters — Dusty Rose and Gio Grace — with the Maroon 5 frontman, 40. By the looks of it, the couple has a special bond, and we couldn’t be happier for them.

At one point, Behati tried comforting others going through the same thing by encouraging them to use their voice. “And I think I got lucky not to have it to an extreme case, but you can see yourself spiraling,” she continued. “And I think that the message is just that it’s never too little to ask for help. So no matter how small your feelings and stress — or whatever it is about being a new mom — there’s always help out there and support from family and friends. And I think nobody judges anyone.”

In January, the blonde beauty, whose kids are less than two years apart, told PorterEdit she took some time off from work after her second pregnancy to really enjoy motherhood. It was worth it because when she finally returned to modeling, she felt better than ever.

The mother of two participated at the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, eight months after giving birth to Gio. “I felt so empowered. I was like, ‘I can do this, I have two kids.’ It was a beautiful journey; I loved being pregnant and I enjoyed getting back to work.” You go, girl!
