Three years after that infamous elevator fight in NYC, Beyoncé and JAY-Z recreated the incident on his 48th birthday. The couple was all smiles in the elevator as they made their way out of the Angelika Film Centre, which was rented out for the celebration.

Wearing a black and yellow polka dot dress and sunglasses, Queen Bey posed for photos alongside her rapper husband, who looked dapper in his burgundy suit. However, noticeably missing from the elevator moment was little sister Solange Knowles — who was captured on camera attacking her brother-in-law in 2014. At the time of the original elevator incident, little was known about the cause, despite speculation it had to do with JAY-Z’s infidelities. Earlier this year, the hip-hop star defended Solange, saying, “We had one disagreement ever. Before and after we’ve been cool. She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister, not my sister-in-law. My sister. Period.”

Since then, Jay has released an album named after the location of the scuffle — and has even admitted to cheating on his wife of nine years. “The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself,” he told T: The New York Times Style Magazine. “So, you know, most people don’t want to do that. You don’t want to look inside yourself. And so you walk away.”

He went on to reveal that the couple went to therapy to save their marriage. “I grew so much from the experience,” he continued. “But I think the most important thing I got is that everything is connected. Every emotion is connected and it comes from somewhere. And just being aware of it. Being aware of it in everyday life puts you at such a… you’re at such an advantage.”

Today, the couple is happily raising their three kids, Blue Ivy, 5, and five-month-old twins Sir and Rumi. And as Bey once said, “Of course sometimes s–t go down when it’s a billion dollars on an elevator.”
