Think Before You InkBritney Spears, David Beckham and 4 More Celebrities With Tattoo Fails

David Beckham

Location: Left forearm

What it's Supposed to Mean: Wife Victoria Beckham's name in Sanskrit.

What it Actually Means: Because of the misspelling, it actually means "Vihctoria."

Britney Spears

Location: Right hip

What it's Supposed to Mean: "Mysterious" in Japanese.

What it Actually Means: "Strange" in Japanese. “I was getting changed recently in Japan and a woman laughed when she saw my tattoo," Orange is the New Black star Taryn Manning, Brit's co-star in their movie Crossroads, said. "She told me it means strange, which is not cool. Britney had it done at the same time as me. She was absolutely devastated when I told her.” Fun Fact: Brit is a repeat offender. She got a Kabbalah-inspired symbol on the back of her neck, which was supposed to translate to "God." It didn't. She has since had it removed.

Ashley Greene

Location: Left foot

What it's Supposed to Mean: "Life's a dance"

Why it's Wrong: The tattoo artist forgot to put an apostrophe in "Lifes."

Hayden Panettiere

Location: Along the left side of her rib cage

What it's Supposed to Mean: “Vivere senza rimpianti” which means "Live without regrets" in Italian, right? WRONG.

What it Actually Means: "Rimpianti" should be spelled "rimipianti," so it doesn't make any sense. "It's misspelled, whatever. I just put my own spin to it," she said. "Chances are I'll probably get it fixed, but that's why I love having it on my back because I don't get bored of it." And in 2013, she got it removed.

Christina Aguilera

Location: Left forearm

What it's Supposed to Mean: The initials of her ex-husband, Jordan Bratman's, name in Hebrew.

What it Actually Means: "12." She probably doesn't mind the mistake now considering they're no longer together.

Nicole Richie

Location: Right wrist

Here's the Deal: "Virgin" isn't misspelled, but no one gets the real meaning. It has to do with astrology. “I’m a Virgo and the sign is a virgin," she explained. "So when I was 16, I got the word virgin tattooed on my wrist, thinking I was sooo deep and cool. And now I just look really weird having virgin written across my wrist and I have to explain it.”
