Carrie Underwood Turns 34 — Relive Her Memorable ‘American Idol’ Audition!

In honor of Carrie Underwood’s birthday — the singer turns 34 on March 10 — we’re looking back at where it all began: American Idol!

The Season 4 winner’s audition is still one of the best in the show’s history, and started off with the Oklahoma native, who was just 21 at the time, telling judge Randy Jackson that she thought Simon Cowell was “scary.”

The blonde beauty also revealed that she had a “third nipple” removed. “It really just looked like a mole. If I wore a two-piece bathing suit, [people] would ask me what it was. I said it was a birthmark, because it was. I kind of got a little self-conscious of it, so I got it taken off,” she explained.

But it was Carrie’s version of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” that we remember most! Needless to say, the judges (minus Paula Abdul) were impressed.

“That was very good, very good, Carrie,” Simon said. “I think you’re excellent, too,” Randy added. “I would work a little bit more on the emotion and the stage presence.” She certainly has no trouble with that these days!
