Carrie Underwood May Be ‘Biting Off More Than She Can Chew’ in 2025: ‘A Huge Juggling Act’

Carrie Underwood has a huge year ahead with her American Idol judging gig, concerts galore, plus finding a fix to the issues in her marriage to Mike Fisher, a source exclusively tells Life & Style

“2025 is going to be absolutely packed for Carrie, to the point where people around her are questioning if she’s biting off more than she can chew,” the insider says. “Being a judge on Idol is going to be such a nerve wracking experience, that would be enough to handle on its own, but on top of that she has all kinds of gigs lined up plus her residency in Las Vegas, it’s hard to imagine how she’ll pull it all off.”

Carrie, 41, will joined cohosts Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie as the third judge on Idol, 20 years after winning the singing competition herself. A second source previously discussed the country star’s break-neck pace now that she’s officially joined the production, saying, “It’s been a whirlwind. They’ve been filming a lot of promotional content and auditions, so Carrie had to hit the ground running.”

Fellow country crooner Luke, 48, even admitted that the famously awkward audition process alone constitutes “like 13-hour days,” adding, “We wake up and we get there, and what people don’t realize is we do 35 auditions a day, typically. And, man, you can’t rush through them.”

He also expressed doubts that Carrie’s heart is hard enough to say “no” to would-be stars who find themselves nervously standing in front of the judges’ panel with a number pinned to their shirt, just like she had decades ago.

“The thing about it is Carrie has to kind of learn in real time. You kind of have to learn how to be a judge. It’s not like you can go to American Idol Judging School. She went to American Idol Be A Contestant School,” he said.

If dragging days filming weren’t enough, since winning Idol in 2005, Carrie’s put out nine albums and has gone on seven tours and is gearing up for her Las Vegas residency dates throughout May 2025, plus, she’s now confirmed she’ll be performing at Donald Trump’s inauguration.

“And of course, beyond just being exhausting for her it’s also going to mean more time apart from Mike,” the first insider says, “which is going to be very difficult.”

The “Before He Cheats” singer’s pro Hockey player husband, Mike, 44, has given Carrie some anxiety before. A different source told Life & Style she “worries about what they might be up to when she’s out touring,” which is just another layer of stress.

“It’s going to be a huge juggling act,” the first insider continues, “She feels confident she can handle it, but people do worry she’s taking on too much.”

“Something’s going to have to give and they just hope it isn’t going to be her marriage, because she and Mike have been through so many ups and downs already. They’ve come out the other side and are doing great but the last thing they need is another setback.”
