Bye Haters! Sydney Sweeney, Selena Gomez and More Celebrities Who’ve Clapped Back at Body Shamers

After photos of the Euphoria star wearing a bikini went viral on December 13, 2024, she responded to critics with an Instagram post the following day by sharing the cruelest comments strung together in a video.

“Kinda dumpy,” one of the comments read, while another hater wrote, “I’ve seen hotter women working at McDonald’s.”

Fans and celebrities applauded Sydney for taking on her haters, with her Anyone But You costar Glen Powell writing in the comments, “You’re such a badass.”

Selena Gomez

The actress took on TikTok trolls who claimed she was intentionally hiding her stomach at the premiere of her film Emilia Pérez in October 2024.

Before the video was deleted, Selena wrote in the comments that she has a medical condition that sometimes causes bloating. “This makes me sick. I have SEBO in my small intestine. It flares up.” she explained. I don’t care that I don’t look like a stick figure. I don’t have that body. End of story. No, I am NOT a victim. I’m just human.”

Jackie Goldschneider

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star clapped back at body shamers who called her “plump, juicy, full-figured, big. All sorts of comments like that,” after she attended the Z100 Jingle Ball in December 2024 in a figure-hugging silver dress.

“First of all, not helpful,” she said in a TikTok video. “You can compliment me without commenting on how much weight you think I’ve gained or what you think of the size of my body.”

Jackie then offered advice for those who thought her body was “big,” telling haters, “I suggest that you sign off of TikTok and OnlyFans and Instagram and you look around the real world and see what a real woman’s body looks like because real women are not skin and bones.”

Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was trolled for having a “dad bod” after he was shown shirtless celebrating with his team in their locker room after winning the AFC Championship in January 2024.

“Yoooo why they have to do me like that!?!?!?” Patrick wrote on X, along with the hashtag “DadBodSzn.” In a second post on X, the professional athlete added, “Like i got kids!!!!” with both of his messages including several crying laughing emojis.

Madison Beer

Madison shared several selfies wearing a sleeveless short white slip dress and black motorcycle boots in July 2023, a body shamer wrote in the comments, “Hey Madison I’ve noticed that ur legs and arms are getting fatter. Please do some cardio because we men only like skinny girls. Ur face is already perfect, but please we love a thin-waisted girl.”

The “Good in Goodbye” singer fired back, “I wouldn’t touch you with a 10 ten foot pole if you paid me a million dollars.”

Kristen Doute

The Vanderpump Rules alum got dragged by body shamers after making her first Watch What Happens Live appearance in more than three years in May 2023.

The following day, Kristen wrote in an Instagram Story, “I just have to say some of y’all really are a fist-full of a–hole.”

She added, “I hope no one speaks to you this way or your daughters, or your sisters or your aunts or your grandmas. Stop commenting on women’s appearances!”

Bebe Rexha

The “I’m Good” singer took on all of her body shamers at once, tweeting in June 2023, “I know I got fat. I’m just so sick of people talking about it. NEXT!!!!!!

Bebe added in a follow-up post, “Human beings go through weight fluctuations. It’s life and you don’t know what people are going through. Meds, disease, etc…”

Camila Cabello

After being the subject of body shaming on several occasions, the “Havana” singer reflected on her figure in a July 2021 TikTok video.

“I was just running in the park minding my own business trying to be fit, trying to keep it healthy. And I am wearing a top that shows my belly,” she explained, showing her crop top and leggings.

“And I wasn’t tucking it in, because I was running and existing like a normal person that doesn’t tuck it in all the time,” Camilla continued. “And I was like, ‘Damn.’ But then I reminded myself being at war with your body is so last season.”

The singer boldly added, “I am grateful for this body that lets me do what I need to do. We are real women with curves and cellulite and stretchmarks and fat. And we gotta own that, baby.”

Demi Lovato

The singer hit back at the headline of an article which claimed she had a “fuller figure.”

“I AM MORE THAN MY WEIGHT,” she wrote in an April 2019 Instagram Story.

“Unlike the past, I’m not triggered, I’m not upset that someone wrote a headline about my ‘fuller figure.’ I’m angry that people think it’s okay to write headlines about people’s body shapes,” Demi continued. “Especially a woman who has been so open about being in recovery from an eating disorder. I’m not upset for myself but for anyone easily influenced by the diet culture.”

“If you’re reading this: Don’t listen to negative diet culture talk. You are more than a number on a scale. And I am more than a headline about my body shape,” the “Stone Cold” songstress added.

Demi later revealed the article’s author reached out and apologized to her. She thanked him “for understanding where I’m coming from.”

Katie Maloney

In 2019, the Vanderpump Rules alum addressed the constant pregnancy rumors she faced while with then-husband Tom Schwartz, saying she’d simply gained weight.

“It’s been four glorious years of pregnancy rumors for me and a lot of people think that I’m pregnant because I gained weight,” the reality star sighed in an Instagram Story before explaining that, “Pregnant women are not fat. They are pregnant, they are creating a life inside of them. Yes, I gained weight but whatever, people do that sometimes.”
