Denim is so 2016! Topshop is selling a pair of clear plastic jeans — and it’s worse than you can imagine.

Made from 100 percent polyurethane, the British retailer is taking fashion to new extremes with the completely see-through bottoms, which retail for $100.

“Think outside the box with these out-of-the-ordinary clear plastic jeans – guaranteed to get people talking,” the company wrote on their website, alongside photos of the jeans.

Meant to be worn with a bikini or worn under an asymmetric hem dress, the garment already has social media buzzing but for all the wrong reasons.

“@Topshop I’m usually a massive fan but you have officially lost the plot, what on earth are these?! #topshop #plasticjeans #wtf #lateaprilfools?!,” one commenter wrote on Instagram before another justly pointed out, “Eeeeeew would give you such a sweaty bottom!!!!”

Some buyers were excited with their purchases, however, and left five-star reviews for the clear jeans on the company’s website.

“Another quality garment from Topshop,” a customer wrote. “Amazing that they managed to stitch together a pair of jeans from something other than denim and still managed to finish up with something that still looked like jeans.”

This is not Topshop’s first foray into clear jeans. The company also sold “clear panel mom jeans” on their website earlier this year.

The Kardashians are seemingly the catalyst for plastic fashion after Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner both made statements in clear plastic boots designed by Kanye West earlier this year.

Unsurprisingly, the trend has not taken off and we did not see many clear jeans at Coachella this year — despite the Kardashian effect.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed it stays that way.
