We're seeing double! America's Got Talent fans are divided, and some of them are really rooting for what seems to be the underdogs of Season 12 of NBC's hit competition series — Mirror Image! The singing-and-dancing duo are twins, and some AGT fans are not thrilled that they've made it this far — many of them even posted mean comments about them online and wondered if they were gay. Keep scrolling to learn more about Colton and Trent Edwards!
They hail from Pennsylvania.
Colton and Trent are 16-year-old high school students from Murrysville, PA and they attend the Appolonia Leake Dance Company in nearby Pittsburgh. They regularly compete in dance competitions across the United States, according to local paper Tribune Review.
They're not Simon Cowell's favorite.
They wowed the AGT audience and earned a standing ovation after their first audition, and judges Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel were all on board — except for Simon Cowell. When they returned for the judge's cuts, Simon even hit the big red "X" but they were still able to move forward with support from the rest of the judges and the fans.
They're still "twin it to win it."
Colton and Trent aren't letting Simon's opinion of them stop them from doing what they love. For their quarterfinals performance, they chose to sing a cover of Queen's "Somebody to Love" before breaking into a dance routine set to Bell Biv DeVoe's "Poison" and Kris Kross' "Jump." Right before they took the stage for the live shows, their mom Gia Edwards, said that she didn't think the twins were going to sway Simon. He hit the "X" buzzer again during their performance and AGT host Tyra Banks joked, saying “I think you just proved their mama right."
Are the AGT Mirror Image twins gay?
Many fans admit that they just don't "get" their act, and a lot of them took to Twitter to spread rumors that the teens are gay. But that doesn't seem to be true — during their audition, Trent mentioned that he has a girlfriend and he's been with her for four years.
