Dax Shepard Says Daughter Delta, 11, Wants a Baby — and He’s Offering to Pay to Freeze Her Eggs
Dax Shepard is already thinking about grandpa life — even if it’s still very far away.
The 51-year-old actor and “Armchair Expert” podcast host recently opened up about a sweet (and surprisingly thoughtful) conversation he had with his younger daughter, Delta, 11, after she shared that she dreams of becoming a mom someday. Dax shares Delta, as well as daughter Lincoln, 12, with wife Kristen Bell.
“Delty was saying how she can’t wait to have a baby,” Dax recalled on the Monday, January 5, episode of Armchair Expert.
According to the proud dad, Delta’s nurturing side is already on full display at home. “For people who don’t know, our life is a traveling circus of Delty’s stuffies,” he joked. “The bulk of our luggage as a family are her stuffies.”
When Delta first brought up wanting kids in the future, Dax said he was careful with how he responded, wanting to be supportive without pushing any expectations.
“She’s saying she wants to have a baby, and I said, ‘When do you think you’ll have your first child? When you turn 18?’ I want to be supportive of whatever,” he explained. “I don’t want to plant any seeds that I’d be judgmental or whatever.”
As it turns out, motherhood at 18 is not part of Delta’s plan. Dax guessed his daughter might want kids later in life — somewhere between 35 and 45 — which led him to offer a very modern solution.
“I said, ‘If you want to, we’ll freeze your eggs when you’re 18. I’ll pay for you to get your eggs frozen so you don’t have to think about that,’” he shared.
The Parenthood alum was quick to acknowledge his family’s privilege, adding, “acknowledging all luck and privilege, obviously, this isn’t an option for most people.” Still, he explained that he understands the pressure many women feel when balancing career goals with family planning. “I think they’re going to be wrestling with the same thing every woman is. You’re gonna want to do your career….”
This isn’t the first time Dax has shared Delta’s refreshingly honest takes on life. Back in March 2025, he recalled her reaction to Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Juno.”
“She goes, ‘But do you know what Juno is?’ and I go, ‘No…’ and she’s like, ‘Well, it’s a movie,’” he said. “‘Yeah, it’s a story about a girl who gets pregnant.’ I go, ‘That’s a little nasty.’ And she goes, ‘What’s nasty about wanting to have a baby with somebody?’”
