Demi Engemann Breaks Her Silence on Claims She Tried to ‘Stage’ an Affair With Dakota Mortensen

Demi Engemann is pushing back after several Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast members accused her of trying to “fake an affair” with Taylor Frankie Paul’s ex, Dakota Mortensen — a claim they discussed during their appearance on “The Viall Files.”

After a fan account posted clips of the cast calling her out, Demi jumped into the comments to set the record straight. “Awkward that I now have to clarify this and reveal just how produced this show is…Production sat us down after filming season 1 asking us for ideas f or a ‘big cliffhanger’ because the show was ‘boring,’” she wrote. According to Demi, everyone pitched storylines. “One of mine was me saying that Dakota could meet up with me to get advice about him and Taylor and someone could ‘get footage’ of us talking in the car making it seem like ‘something might be going on between us.’ Then at the top of season 2 it’s cleared up that he was just there to get my advice about Taylor the same way he did with Mayci.”

She continued, “It really was not that deep or serious. This is a perfect example of the ‘pile on’ tactic these women use when someone is already down in the public eye. They ALL gave ideas for a cliffhanger, but the way that they relayed this story was as though I just ‘wanted to stage an affair’ out of the blue for fun! No. Not at all what happened, nor would I ever stage anything on my own, unlike some 👀.”

Her defense comes as the cast is already knee-deep in another drama: the now-infamous “fruity pebbles” situation. In season 1, Demi mentioned a private NSFW moment involving her husband Brett and Fruity Pebbles — and while the details were left intentionally vague, fans (and castmates) have speculated ever since.

But after Demi implied the show was heavily produced, Jessi Ngatikaura fired back hard on Instagram Stories. “Honey, just because you script YOURSELF doesn’t mean our show is scripted. This behavior, level of delusion and downward spiral should be studied,” she wrote.

Jessi didn’t stop there. When Demi commented on a creator’s video saying “Jessi’s somewhere punching air right now that Lisa [Vanderpump] is talking about me and not her,” Jessi posted a response video: “I don’t know about you guys, but I am loving this Demi crash-out era right now.” She then escalated things even further by revealing the explicit meaning behind “Fruity Pebbles,” saying, “Grandpa Bret likes to drink her piss like it’s dirty soda… And that’s what Fruity Pebbles is.”

Demi later addressed the claim, calling it a massive breach of trust. “What my husband and I did one-time behind closed doors, was a consensual and private experience in our marriage,” she wrote on Instagram Stories. She added that sharing the story “in confidence nearly two years ago” makes Jessi’s timing “very telling,” accusing her of trying to distract from “her own affair” coming to light.
