TikToker Julie Sousa Transforms Her Home Into a Snowy Tundra with DIY Decoration Hacks
If you’re looking for some holiday party decor inspiration, look no further!
TikTok’s DIY decoration queen Julie Sousa has all the hacks you need to throw a fabulously festive soiree.
Sousa, who goes by @the_avantgarde on TikTok, has had her fair share of viral videos showing her decorating her home for everything from a Beetlejuice-themed Halloween party to an elaborate football game watch party.
Now, with the holiday season in full swing, Sousa has embarked on her next design challenge, topping last year’s Grinch-themed holiday party with a fabulous snowy “glacier soiree.”
In the first part of the three-part TikTok series, Sousa showed a mock-up of her design plans to viewers, complete with an icicle illusion hanging over the kitchen island and a faux ice block wall.
In part two, Sousa got down to business, showing what she used for the DIYs.
“An ice wall made of gift boxes? I wasn’t about to host a boring Christmas party,” Sousa announced in the video.
She then showed her using small, clear, rectangular gift boxes and a hot glue gun to attach them to the front of her kitchen island.
Above the island, Sousa attached some white faux tree branches to the ceiling and draped silver tinsel over them to make them look like icicles dangling up above.
She also covered her pendant lights with plastic wrap to make them appear frosted and attached strings of blue lights to the wall and covered them with crumpled white tissue paper to make the wall look like the side of a glacier.
In part 3, Sousa showed the rest of the party space, including the dining table and hallway.
Throughout her home, she used a plastic tablecloth, a series of mirrors, faux snow, white string lights, and faux tree branches to create the winter wonderland of her dreams.
“Today was definitely all about finding things that were easy but made a big impact, but stay tuned for the party!” Sousa shared to close out the video.
