Donald Faison Weighs in on a ‘Scrubs’ Reunion Movie (EXCLUSIVE)

Christopher Duncan Turk has spoken! Well, at least Donald Faison — the man who brought the unforgettable surgeon to life — has spoken.

In an exclusive interview with Life & Style, the 43-year-old actor revealed that like his on-and-off-screen best friend Zach Braff, he’d be down to do a Scrubs reunion movie. “Zach had a great idea when he said to do a Scrubs movie,” Donald — who is working with Cigna as part of their “TV Doctors of America” campaign to help encourage preventative care — told Life & Style. “That’s a possibility. But then again, it’d have to be everybody. We couldn’t leave anybody out.”

We’d have to agree with him there! We’ve already been excited about the possibility of a reunion since Zach confessed that he ran a script idea by Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence. “I had a whole TV movie pitch for Bill Lawrence,” the Garden State writer explained earlier this year. “I can’t tell you because it’s part of my pitch, but I told him this whole pitch over dinner and he laughed a lot and said, ‘We’ll see, we’ll see.’ I think it would be fun to do a two-hour Scrubs movie — I would totally do that!”

Let’s hope that Zach is ready to put the finishing touches on the script because we’re so ready for this movie. While Donald isn’t a doctor — he simply played one on TV — he’s still doing his part for the medical field. As part of his work with Cigna, he and fellow TV docs Patrick Dempsey, Kate Walsh, and Neil Patrick Harris are encouraging fans to get their annual check-ups. When Cigna approached Donald for this partnership, he said it was an opportunity he couldn't refuse.

“They reached out to me and I was like, ‘Absolutely!’ 1. Because I’m a soon-to-be 44-year-old and, you know, when you’re young you think you’re invincible, and then as you get older you realize, ‘Wow, I really need to take care of myself!’ And one way to start taking care of yourself is an annual check-up,” he explained. “And I have been going to get check-ups because, you know, I have friends that have never had a check-up! Friends that are afraid to go to the doctor. And I was like, this could be a great way to stress to them how important your annual check-up is.”

We love seeing Donald embrace medicine IRL — and we’ll keep our fingers crossed that he’ll be sporting his signature teal scrubs in Sacred Heart sometime very, very soon! In the meantime, check out the gallery below to see what the J.D.’s former love interests are up to today!
