After Vogue Displays Fashion’s Class of 2026, People Have One Consistent Question

With international fashion weeks just around the corner, rumors and excitement are at an all time high as the fashion world waits for the Spring 2026 collections to hit the runways.

This year, fashion fans are even more excited than usual to see the season’s newest designs following a year filled with a multitude of new designer appointments across popular luxury brands.

This major industry shake-up has led to 15 designers making their fashion week debuts with established brands this upcoming season. To highlight this unique event, Vogue compiled a list of the new designers, dubbing them the “Class of Spring 2026.”

While fresh faces and fresh approaches always bring excitement, Instagram users couldn’t help but question the lack of diversity amongst the new “class” of designers as Vogue shared the lineup in a recent post

One user summed up their complicated feelings surrounding the upcoming season, commenting, “A bitter sweet fashion season ahead, great to see all new directors, sad to see the lack of diversity.”

Across the group, Rachel Scott at Proenza Schouler and Louise Trotter at Bottega Veneta are the only two women designers, with Scott being the only person of color, while the other 13 brands on the list are all led by white men.

This led to some commenters mentioning they will be focusing their support towards Rachel Scott and Proenza Schouler this year in hopes of encouraging more diversity in the industry in the future.

Several commenters on the post pointed out that there seems to be a consistent lack of women in leadership positions at major luxury fashion brands. One commenter simply questioned, “Any reason why there’s only men as designers in this industry that has women as their target?”

None of the brands or designers who made the list have commented on the Vogue Instagram post or addressed the comments at this time.
