It’s love, y’all! Frankie Grande spoke with Life & Style exclusively at the Bentonville Film Festival in Bentonville, Arkansas, on May 9 after he participated in the “Queer and Here to Stay” Panel Presented by MARS, and he gushed about his new boyfriend, how the relationship is going and how the lovebirds went from dancing to dating.

“I’m the most in love I’ve ever been,” the 36-year-old said about his new relationship. “Hale is the best person on the planet, actually. Just amazing. So handsome, and such a geek at heart.”

So, how did these two cuties meet, you might be wondering? It’s kind of a funny story …

“First of all, we met country line dancing, which is like the craziest thing. It was only my second time going in this bar, Oil Can Harry’s [on] Ventura [Blvd in Studio City, CA],” he explained. “Walked in, all my friends were with me, and then at the end of the night they were like, ‘We’re going to Abita, do you want to come?’ And I was like, honestly, I don’t think I’m in the circuit party mode right now. I’m just going to chill out here. They all left me alone, and then I saw Hale on the dance floor and was like huh, I literally was like oh my God, I was like I love you. I was like oh my God.”

But according to Frankie, his new man is a bit “proper,” so of course, it took a little bit of wooing. “So I literally had to ask him to dance, and then I had to be like is it OK if I kiss you? It was very, you know, wait to the third date kind of thing, you know the situation. And it was like really, it was really nice,” he revealed.

But what really sealed the deal between them? Turns out, a mutual love of gaming was the key to each of their hearts.

“I wooed him with my Nintendo Switch knowledge,” Frankie revealed. “That’s what he does. He’s like, ‘I’m a gamer,’ and I was like, ‘I’m a gamer,’ and he was like, ‘I don’t believe you.’ And I was like, ‘I do, what’s your platform?’ He talked about Overwatch for a while and I was like, ‘I don’t know what that is.’ I do now. And then he was like Nintendo Switch, and I was like oh my God, I can Switch out with you, let’s go bro. And I impressed him with all my Zelda knowledge.”

But ultimately, underneath all the gaming and the fun, the singer really feels like his new BF is someone he can rely on. “I think everyone just senses how grounded he makes me feel, and how happy he is in my life,” he gushed. “He’s the missing element, I think.”
