Gigi Hadid Didn’t Always Plan on Being a Model — Instead, She Wanted to Play Sports in College!
Is there anything that Gigi Hadid can’t do?
The 22-year-old California girl is full of surprises! We knew that Gigi is athletic — just look at her super toned body, but we didn’t know that she’s also great at sports. The blonde beauty surprisingly enough wasn’t always convinced she’d have a career as a model and had goals of going to college and playing volleyball.

“I wanted to be a volleyball player, [but] I decided to go to college in New York because I wanted to model,” she admitted to W. “If I had decided to play volleyball, I probably would have gone to a UC in California or somewhere with a Division I volleyball team, but in New York, sports aren’t big at universities so I had to give that up.”

She began modeling at age two.
Although Gigi put off modeling when she got older because she wanted to have a normal childhood, she had her first ad campaign when she was just a toddler.
“I started with Baby Guess; I did Guess Kids… Since I started with IMG, I’ve done three Guess campaigns,” she explained.

She’s modeled naked.
With a body like hers, why be shy? Gigi famously covered the Paris edition of Vogue and is known for promoting body positivity.
“If I didn’t have the body I do, I wouldn’t have the career I do,” she said. “I love that I can be sexy. I’m proud of it.”
She plans to eventually finish college.
Gigi enrolled in The New School in NYC before quitting to pursue modeling, but that doesn’t mean her days of academia are behind her. She’s said that she wants to return and continue to study criminal psychology. Beauty and brains… what a combo.
