Kelly Clarkson Isn’t Just a Fan of Reba McEntire — She’s Also Her Daughter-in-Law
We've got a musical dynasty on our hands! Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire aren't just two of the bestselling recording artists around, they're also related. When Reba married manager and guitarist Narvel Blackstock in 1989, she became stepmother to the three children he had at the time: Chassidy, Shawna, and Brandon. Brandon Blackstock grew up to be a talent manager and married Kelly in 2013, so now Kelly is Reba's daughter-in-law.
Even before Kelly and Reba were family, though, they were big fans of each other. In 2007, they teamed up for a duet version of Kelly's hit "Because of You," and the following year, they toured North America in their 2 Worlds 2 Voices Tour. (Reba is eager to headline more concerts with this judge of The Voice. "Doing another tour with her would be a blast," she told E! News.)
With that mutual adoration in mind, it's no surprise Reba was elated when her stepson popped the question to Kelly. "[I'm] thrilled to death, thrilled to death," she told Katie Couric at the time. "To have my buddy as my daughter-in-law, I mean, who could ask for more? … She's a girl with a big heart. Very giving, loving, and talented. Everybody knows she's talented, but sometimes they don't see that big-hearted loving person that she really is. And I'm so happy for her, I've never seen her happier than she is right now."
Not only that, Reba is impressed with the "Stronger" singer's confidence. "You know, Kelly's a big girl," she told Entertainment Tonight in 2015. "She's always been able to defend herself and take up for herself. But if there's any slack needed to be taken up, I'll be there for her in a heartbeat."
And Kelly speaks just as fondly of Reba. "I have the coolest mother-in-law, and you all can suck it," she raved as she presented the music legend with the Milestone Award at the 2015 ACM Awards.
Even though Reba divorced Narvel in 2015, she and Kelly still hang out as much as possible. In fact, Kelly and Brandon even spent this past Christmas with Reba, as the proud grandma told E! News.
Now… how soon until the next joint tour?
