James Franco is mourning the death of his grandmother, Mitzie Verne, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 93.
"She had a great life. Mitzie Vern, Grandma. Just the best," the 38-year-old wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the duo.
Fans of the actor may remember her from this Funny or Die sketch, during which she calls anyone who hasn't seen 127 Hours "p–sies."
Mitzie and her late husband, Dan, were Japanese and Asian art buffs who debuted the Verne Collection in the 1950s.
"The family has asked anyone wishing to do so to contribute to the Asian Studies Program at Case Western Reserve University or the Cleveland Museum of Art," a statement on Cleve Scene reads.
Our thoughts are with James and his family during this difficult time.
