Jen Affleck Defends DWTS Partner Jan Ravnik After Maks Chmerkovskiy’s Harsh Criticism
Jen Affleck is *not* keeping quiet when it comes to defending her Dancing With the Stars partner, Jan Ravnik.
After former pros Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd publicly criticized Jan’s abilities on the show, Jen fired back in the most modern way possible — with a TikTok.
In the clip, the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star is seen furiously typing on her phone while Jan mouths, “Take it down. Take it down. Take it down. We need it gone. That doesn’t represent me or what we need to be doing.” Jen captioned the video, “Me when anyone talks trash about Jan,” adding, “We don’t tolerate Jan slander in this house!! @Jan Ravnik @Dancing with the Stars #DWTS.”
The post came shortly after Maks unleashed a scathing review of Jan’s performance and qualifications on “The Penthouse with Peta” podcast a few days earlier. “Jan has absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing With the Stars,” Maks said. “There’s zero foundation, technique, quality, understanding of partnership. It is absurd.”

He didn’t stop there. “[If] you can’t teach fundamentals, you should not be a pro on Dancing With the Stars,” Maks continued, later referencing Jan’s Wicked Night performance on October 21. “He had no idea what foxtrot is supposed to look like. How are you going to expect him to teach it and deliver that message in a format that is completely different from even ballroom dancing?”
Maks — who competed in 17 non-consecutive seasons of DWTS — called Jan’s hiring a “missed opportunity” but insisted, “I have zero against Ravnik as a person.”
Peta, who co-hosts the podcast with her husband Maks, agreed with the criticism. “Jen Affleck [is] at a disadvantage,” she said. “She’s not getting taught the base of the dance. Hiring a non-ballroom dancer to teach ballroom dancing to a celebrity as a job is outrageous.”
Jan, for his part, seemed unfazed by the backlash. He shared a photo from rehearsals with Jen soundtracked by Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do,” captioning it, *“I’ll be the actress starring in your bad dreams.”*
While the drama continues to swirl, Jen’s support for her partner is crystal clear — and fans are rallying behind her. Her TikTok has already racked up thousands of comments from DWTS viewers praising her loyalty. One fan summed it up best: “Jen is the definition of a ride-or-die.”
