“No hugging, no learning,” was a mantra on the set of Seinfeld, and clearly leading man Jerry Seinfeld takes the saying to heart. Unfortunately, singer Kesha learned that the hard way when she tried to snag a hug from the iconic actor on the red carpet.

On Monday night, the two were at a National Night of Laughter and Song event in Washington, D.C., but Kesha was definitely not left laughing after she was brutally rejected by the comedian.

Standing on the carpet, the 30-year-old songstress walked up to the 63-year-old mid-interview and majorly fan-girled over him — but he remained unamused.

“I’m Kesha, I love you so much!” she said as she walked up to a very surprised Jerry. “Oh, thanks,” he said in response.

But in the midst of her enthusiasm, the blonde beauty got a little too close for comfort. “Can I give you a hug?” she asked, to which the father-of-three responded "no"… three times.

He proceeded to laugh about the interaction with his interviewer, admitting he had no idea who Kesha was, but did say he wished her the best.

We imagine that most people in the biz are aware of Jerry’s aversion to hugs, as his friend and Seinfeld co-creator Larry David had a policy of “no hugging, no learning” during the show's nine-season run.

And despite the "no learning" part of that mantra, we now know to give Jerry Seinfeld plenty of personal space!
