She wouldn’t let him go — and thank goodness she didn’t! Chrissy Teigen took to Twitter on Monday, Sept. 4, to reminisce about that time her husband, John Legend, tried (unsuccessfully) to break up with her 11 years ago.

The supermodel, 31, shared an article about John’s recent interview with The Guardian, in which he recounted a turbulent time in their relationship. Fortunately, Chrissy can joke about their almost-split now. “11 years later baby,” she tweeted, accompanied by a crying-laughing face emoji.

In a follow-up tweet, the mom-of-one shared more details about John’s attempt to call it quits. “It wasn’t a typical breakup,” Chrissy — who shares daughter Luna, 16 months, with the “All of Me” singer, 38 —  wrote. “He was on tour and his voice hurt and he was being a whiny face about everything and so yeah, I was like ‘no.’”

During his chat with The Guardian, John said that he felt he and Chrissy needed space when he hit a particularly low point. “I was really stressed and busy. I was just like, ‘I’d just be happier single right now,’ and she was like, ‘No,’” the Grammy winner told the publication, adding that he quickly learned that spending time with Chrissy only makes him a happier person. “She pushes me to be funnier. Not because she’s trying to. I think it’s just being around her. And to be bolder.”

Chrissy, who tied the knot with John in 2013 after a two-year engagement, also opened up about her hubby’s snafu in a December 2016 interview with Cosmopolitan. “I always joke, ‘Remember when you tried to break up with me?’” she said at the time. “He’s like, ‘Yes, sorry. Big mistake.’”
