Singer Joy Villa Wears Controversial Anti-Abortion Gown on the Grammys Red Carpet

Singer Joy Villa appeared on the 2018 Grammys red carpet in a dress as controversial as the one she wore last year. After debuting her pro-Trump, “Make America great again” gown a year ago, the 26-year-old turned heads in a white pro-life dress with a large, hand-painted image of a fetus, accessorized with a “choose life” purse.

In an Instagram post of the dress — shared earlier today — she wrote in the caption, “I believe in loving the child and the mother, and I am proudly #ProLife. There is so much pain out there, but I choose to spread love and hope.” She added, “I hand-painted my @pronovias gown with a hand-painted (by me) recreation of my daughter [sic] portrait I painted in 2007 at 20 years old 8 months pregnant with my beautiful daughter, whom I adopted out to a wonderful family. I’m incredibly blessed to have given life, and I hope to encourage anyone in a similar situation to choose adoption. ? I also hand painted my #Chooselife bag! And my gorgeous crown is made in USA, NYC. My dress comes from nonprofit @thebridalgardennyc who donates all of the proceeds to @brooklyncharterschool supporting underprivileged minorities!”

Immediately, the photo garnered hundreds of comments, with many slamming the star making a political statement. “Who the f–k are you to decide that?” one person write. A second simply added, “Disgusting.” Others, however, disagreed and applauded Joy for her bravery. “Thank you so much for giving the pro-life movement a voice in the liberally dominated media!” someone commented. Another chimed in, “Thank you for being a voice for the voiceless!!!”

Back in December, Joy made headlines when she filed a sexual assault complaint against former Donald Trump aide Corey Lewandowski. Still, she openly supports the President. “I love what he is doing; unemployment is down. I am totally for President Trump, and it’s only been one year. I can’t wait for the next seven years!” she told Fox News. “I’m looking forward to saving money on my taxes as a small-business woman. I am looking forward to seeing Americans… [feeling patriotic] again. I’m glad that conservative values are back at the forefront as a pro-life woman.”
