Mama June Turns Into Mama Bear, Has a Stern Talk With Pumpkin’s Baby Daddy
Do not mess with mama bear! June “Mama June” Shannon is extremely protective of all four of her children, which is why she was extremely worried when she found out that her second-youngest daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon was pregnant at just 17 years old. But just like any good mama bear would do, Mama June confronted Lauryn’s baby daddy Josh Efird and gave him a stern talking to in a scene from this week’s episode of WE tv’s Mama June: From Not to Hot — which was filmed months in advance, before Pumpkin gave birth.
“I like Josh, he’s okay but I never imagined that he would be the father of my grandchild,” Mama June said in her confessional. “She could’ve picked another winner.”
Since Josh was coming over and it would be the first time since Pumpkin told her about her pregnancy, June was sitting on the steps waiting for him so that she could have a talk with him to find out what his plans were for raising this baby with her daughter.
“I wish my mom would’a gave my babies’ daddies the 411 on what was up. Josh is fixin’ to get the talking to of his life. He’s going to be attached to me for the next 18 years, he’s either gonna step up or that sucker is cut.”
“Pumpkin is pregnant — this is not what I envisioned for her at 17 to be having a baby,” Mama June told Josh. “What plans do you have? Do you have any idea how much it takes to raise a baby, coming home [after] working nine to five, eating [ramen] noodles and macaroni and cheese for the next 18 years? Are you ready for that?”
Mama June had her first child at 15 years old, so she knows exactly what it’s like to struggle as a teen parent. She asked Josh what his plans were for taking care of the baby, and if he planned on staying with Pumpkin to raise their child together as a family, or if he was planning to leave her to raise their child as a single mom.
“I’m gonna go to work, come home, pay bills,” he told her. “I’m gonna stay.” And judging from Pumpkin’s Instagram, it looks like Josh made good on his promise!
