Lenny Kravitz Says a Female Fan Ripped Four of His Dreadlocks During a Concert: ‘That Was Wild’

Lenny Kravitz is getting real about a scary moment at a recent concert in Australia.

The rock musician, 61, performed at a show in Brisbane on November 21, where the incident took place. In a video shared to his Instagram Stories after the show, Kravitz revealed that a female fan ripped several of his dreadlocks out while he was performing.

“Brisbane, that was wild. That was wild,” Kravitz began. “So when I went out for ‘Let Love Rule,’ a very excited young lady pulled four dreadlocks out of the back of my head.”

“You know how hard you got to pull to rip those out of my head?” he continued, then adding, “Damn, baby.”

Yes, four — ouch.

Despite the unexpected hair loss, Kravitz didn’t appear angry, just surprised. He kept the show going, finishing out the night like the seasoned performer he is. Even though the rocker shrugged the moment off, fans on social media were quick to call out the breach of concert etiquette.

One fan wrote on X, “I don’t why people feel the need to do this..pulling out Lenny Kravitz dreadlocks is not ok! People do better! 🥺”

The Brisbane stop is part of his Blue Electric Light world tour, which kicked off earlier this year in support of his 12th studio album of the same name, released in 2024. The run includes multiple shows across Australia and New Zealand.

“Coming to New Zealand for the first time and returning to Australia after so many years is giving my soul the most beautiful energy,” he wrote in a separate Instagram post on November 21. “You all are amazing. Thank you for sharing this with me. Let’s keep going!”

After wrapping up his final Australian shows in Melbourne on November 25, Kravitz will take a much deserved break before revving back up again. The tour is scheduled to resume in 2026, starting in Mexico City on March 14.

Since his last visit to Australia, Kravitz has kept busy in the studio. He’s since released three albums, including 2014’s Strut, 2018’s Raise Vibration, and 2024’s Blue Electric Light. Additionally, in 2024, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and also received his first nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, though he was not inducted (yet).
