Lionel Richie Calls Daughter Sofia’s Relationship With Scott Disick “Just a Phase”
He’s not a regular dad, he’s a cool dad! Although Lionel Richie may not be thrilled about his daughter Sofia’s Richie‘s relationship with boyfriend Scott Disick, he’s letting it run its course.
“She’s 19,” Lionel said in an interview with The Daily Telegraph. “When you’re 19, you know everything. Is it going to be for life? I don’t know. But for right now it’s just a phase, and I’m going to stand real still in the corner, get me a good drink, and not make too much noise.” He joked, “Now I know what my parents meant when I came through the door with my Afro and my girlfriend and said ‘Dad, I’m in love’ and [he] looked at me and said ‘Okay, we’re going to leave you alone for a minute and you’ll figure it out.’ My daughter is getting me back for my Afro days!”
Yet this isn’t the first time the 68-year-old had something to say about the duo’s relationship. Back in November, Lionel told Life & Style exclusively that he was “scared to death” about Sofia, 19, dating Scott, 34 — who has three children with his ex-girlfriend, Kourtney Kardashian. “I’m scared to death about anybody dating anybody,” he laughed.
The pair started dating last summer and have been inseparable ever since. Scott even put his career on hold to be with the now-brunette beauty. “He used to come to Las Vegas at least once a month and make six figures,” a source told Life & Style, “but he stopped because Sofia can’t be in the clubs with him.” He’s losing money, “but that’s not his priority right now. His priority is dating her.” Love is love is love!
