Love Is Blind’s Ben Responds to Sara Alleging He Sent ‘Scripted Apologies’ During the Reunion
Love Is Blind star Ben Mezzenga came with receipts! The season 8 cast member shared screenshots of text messages between himself and his ex-fiancée, Sara Carton, and opened up about what went down after the cameras stopped rolling.
During the Love Is Blind season 8 reunion, Sara, 29, claimed that Ben, 28, ghosted her after she moved to Nashville despite the two allegedly agreeing to continue to date. The oncology nurse said that she discovered Ben had stopped sharing his location with her during her 12-and-a-half-hour drive to Music City, and when she texted him about it, she received “three very scripted apologies.”
While Sara claimed that Ben knew she was going to say no at the altar, the former college baseball player alleged that they had agreed to continue dating before she walked down the aisle.
“Sara and I did agree to keep dating after the altar, which is why when I asked her if she’d like to keep growing in this relationship with me together, her saying ‘We’ll see,’ caught me off guard,” Ben said in a TikTok video posted on Thursday, March 13.
He went on to add that he thought that she was going to agree to their plan in front of the crowd, and they were going to leave together. Ben said that this was where he “started feeling hurt and confused” because he and Sara had “talked about the fact that [they] were going to date after the show.” He also added that because he was under the impression they had split, they didn’t speak very much during her time in Nashville, but when they did talk, it seemed friendly.
Ben also addressed the text messages that Sara brought up during the Love Is Blind reunion.
“I’m sorry, I know I should’ve handled that better,” the alleged message Ben sent to Sara regarding him removing his location read. “It’s just that my heart is broken and I’m trying to figure out how to handle this day by day.”
Sara explained that she had hoped they would “be able to talk about it together,” and Ben claimed he replied with three more messages. In one, he told Sara he was “treating” their situation “as a breakup” and once he saw that Sara made it to Nashville, he “didn’t want to keep seeing” her location. He alleged that she only “liked” the reply with a thumbs up emoji and didn’t respond.

Ben also showed screenshots of the following messages he allegedly sent her.
“Hey, I want to apologize for just removing location stuff out of the blue and not calling you on your drive to [Nashville],” the message sent on April 7, 2024, read. “I do care about you a lot and I am just wanting to protect my heart. I cried a lot yesterday morning and today, and I know there are things I should’ve done better yesterday. I am just trying to do my best with respecting you and stay on good terms and still care for my own feelings.”
Ben claimed Sara didn’t reply to that message either and on May 28, 2024, another message was sent that read, “Hey Sara, you have been on my mind and since we kinda stopped talking in a weird situation, I wanted to see if you had time for a FaceTime this week. It would be good to see how you were doing.”
Ben ended his video by saying that he was ultimately “confused” about the entire situation and Sara’s reaction. He also alluded to the “new information” about Sara allegedly dating their Love Is Blind season 8 costar Joey Leveille now and said that might have cleared some things up for him.
However, Sara denied the rumors during an appearance on “The Viall Files” on Thursday, March 13.
“I’ve seen this a few times online in the past 24 hours. Well, to be clear, me and Joey are not dating,” she told host Nick Viall. “I don’t know what the future will hold. But I do know for right now, I definitely have no capacity to even think about a relationship.”
