‘Married At First Sight’ Star Jamie Otis Suffers A Pregnancy Loss While Trying For Baby No. 3
We can’t imagine how she must be feeling. Married At First Sight star Jamie Otis had a long, difficult road to motherhood and she shared every step of her journey with fans as she suffered a miscarriage, then got pregnant with her first child, one-year-old daughter Henley Grace. Back in April, Jamie and her husband Doug Hehner announced they are ready to make Henley a big sister, but just hours after Jamie hinted that the couple might be pregnant with baby No. 3, she revealed that she suffered a pregnancy loss.
“My midwife confirmed I had a chemical pregnancy,” Jamie wrote in a lengthy Instagram caption posted on Sunday, Sept. 2. “I don’t know why some people have it seemingly SO easy to get preggers [and] carry their babies to term and others struggle? What I do know is that I am so, so thankful for this little girl [and her daddy] right here. It’s like she knew mommy was in so much pain bc she just wanted to be held and snuggled all night long.”
According to Healthline, a chemical pregnancy is an early pregnancy loss that happens shortly after the egg is implanted in the uterus. The news is particularly heartbreaking because before becoming pregnant with Henley, Jamie suffered the loss of her son Johnathan Edward while she was four months pregnant with him.
Jamie first hinted that she might be pregnant when she took to Instagram earlier this week to ask advice from her followers. “So if you get one positive pregnancy test then like ten negative ones but you’re still waiting for your monthly visitor on the last day of the month — what does that mean? Asking for a friend…”
Fellow moms flooded the comments with their advice, and many of them suggested that Jamie should go to the doctor to take a blood pregnancy test. Others said that they’ve had the same experience with a false positive but theirs turned out to be a viable pregnancy.
It seemed like Jamie is still unsure about whether she is pregnant or not, because she continued to take home pregnancy tests, and on Saturday, Sept.1, she shared a photo of one of her results.
“I believe in the power of positivity. I feel what you put out into universe WILL [sic] come to you. And I know deep in my soul that prayers are answered,” Jamie wrote in the caption. “If I stare long enough I see the faintest ‘+’ sign…Do you see it or am I just cray cray [sic]?! I’ll take all the baby dust, prayers [and] positivity you wanna send our way! SO HOPEFUL RIGHT NOW [sic]!”
