People Think Meghan Has Adopted a British Accent Just Months After Marrying Harry
Though she was born in California, many people have noticed that Meghan Markle has seemingly adopted a slight British accent just months after moving to London and marrying Prince Harry.
On Thursday, July 5, a video taken by Twitter user @elzeiny99 of Meghan greeting a crowd of royal fans during her first official outing with Queen Elizabeth in mid-June resurfaced. And, in the clip, Meghan’s voice appears to include a bit of British twang. Watch the video below!

After the video of Meghan’s accent went viral, lots of people took to Twitter to voice their opinions on Meghan’s British inflection. “Meghan Markle has a British accent and now I want one too,” one person wrote with another similarly tweeting, “I just watched a video that showed Meghan Markle starting to have a British accent and I’m so here for it you have no idea.”
As Meghan has now lived in England for several months — she and hubby Harry moved into Kensington Palace’s Nottingham Cottage after their May 19 royal wedding — it’s not really that surprising that she’s picked up a mild British accent.
“People who are rolling their eyes have likely not moved or stayed long term in another country before. This isn’t that crazy and I doubt it’s phoney,” Twitter user @TeriFikowski wrote. Whether Meghan’s American accent totally changes over to British, one thing is for sure — we’ll continue adoring her whatever her voice sounds like!
