There’s a Meghan Markle Special Coming to TV and We Can’t Wait to Watch
We’ll definitely be tuning in! Fox recently announced that the network will be airing a two-hour special called Meghan Markle: An American Princess on Friday, May 11, and we’re more than ready for it. Set to premiere just a week before Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s highly-anticipated royal wedding, it’ll be the perfect way to prepare for the big event!
“Since the early days of the British monarchy, right up to the present, the royal family has captivated the minds and imaginations of people across the globe,” Rob Wade, president of alternative entertainment and specials for Fox, explained to Variety. “With Meghan Markle on the cusp of becoming a real princess, joining the likes of [Kate Middleton] and the late Princess Diana, this special will give viewers a unique look and insight into her journey, from her upbringing in Southern California to her wedding to Prince Harry in Windsor Castle.”
The upcoming documentary will include interviews with Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Grant, British journalist and television personality Piers Morgan, Princess Diana‘s former butler Paul Burrell, and Queen Elizabeth‘s former press secretary Dickie Arbiter, the news outlet revealed.
Spun Gold, a production company based in the UK, is producing the special. “An American Princess will provide viewers with the definitive inside story of the most talked-about wedding of the year, packed with exclusive insights into how Meghan and the world’s most famous family will change each other’s lives,” Daniela Neumann, managing director of Spun Gold, said in a statement.
Harry and Meghan are set to tie the knot on Saturday, May 19, at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, Kensington Palace previously announced. With the big day just a couple of months away, more and more details about the event are being revealed every day. Recently, Kensington Palace even confirmed that the two had picked their wedding cake.
“For their wedding cake, Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have chosen pastry chef Claire Ptak, owner of the London-based bakery Violet Cakes,” the Palace revealed. She will create “a lemon elderflower cake that will incorporate the bright flavors of spring,” which “will be covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.” Sounds delicious!
