Miley Cyrus Says She’s ‘Looking for an Older Man’ After Cody Simpson Split: ‘I Need Them to Take Care of Them’
On the dating scene again? Miley Cyrus got real about “looking for an older man,” two weeks after her split from boyfriend Cody Simpson. The 27-year-old opened up about her romantic life with Joe Rogan on his “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast on September 2.
“That’s why I’m looking for an older man,” the singer explained to the podcaster about wanting a partner with autonomy. “I don’t need a man or a woman that’s gonna take care of me. I can take care of me because I’ve got money, I’ve got all the things that I need to take care of myself. I need them to be able to take care of them.”
The Tennessee native went on to explain she’s been living in a “super pivotal moment” amid her split from the Australian musician, 23. “I haven’t been single since I guess … about five years,” Miley explained, subtly hinting at her August 2019 divorce from ex-husband Liam Hemsworth and subsequent two-month fling with Hills star Kaitlynn Carter.
It seems performing is the glue that’s keeping Miley together as she transitions into singledom. “Something I’m really excited about is this VMAs performance,” she noted. “And I love that it’s the first time that I’m gonna be on that stage as a single, badass, grown, evolved, secure woman that’s done a lot of work.”
Ultimately, that work put the “Wrecking Ball” artist in a place where she could make frank assessments about her romantic life. “I guess I really don’t need to be in a relationship at all,” she told the radio personality. “But it does sound nice.”
Miley and Cody started dating in September 2019 and were together for nearly a year before splitting up. They were friends before they dated — but it doesn’t seem like they will stay pals. “I’m a cold f—king bitch, I leave when things are done,” she said on the podcast. “I do a lot of freaky things, but I don’t f—k dead guys. And when it’s over, you’re dead to me and we move on.”
We love strong, single Miley.
