Longtime Murdaugh employee Blanca Turrubiate-Simpson is sharing insight into the infamous family’s dynamic and revealing what it was like to spend time with them in her new memoir, Within the House of Murdaugh: Amid a Unique Friendship.

What Is ‘Within the House of Murdaugh: Amid a Unique Friendship’ About?
On the book’s website, the synopsis states that Within the House of Murdaugh: Amid a Unique Friendship tells the “eagerly awaited inside story” about what it was really like in the Murdaughs home.

The book was cowritten by Mary Frances Weaver and will be published by Palmetto Publishing.
Who Is Blanca Turrubiate-Simpson?
Turrubiate-Simpson previously worked at the Murdaughs’ home in South Carolina for years before Alex fatally shot Maggie and Paul at the dog kennels on the property on June 7, 2021.
She even cooked Maggie and Paul’s last meals before their deaths. Over the years she worked for the family, Turrubiate-Simpson created a close bond with Maggie and helped Alex in his family’s law firm by translating for Spanish-speaking clients.
After Alex was arrested in connection to Maggie and Paul’s murders, Turrubiate-Simpson was called to testify during the trial. Alex was ultimately found guilty of the murders and was sentenced to consecutive life sentences.
According to the book’s website, Turrubiate-Simpson first met Alex when she was helping a Hispanic friend with a legal matter at the law firm of Peters, Murdaugh, Parker, Eltzroth, and Detrick (PMPED). She began working for Alex as a translator before she was hired as a housekeeper and personal assistant for the family.
While Turrubiate-Simpson previously chose to stay out of the spotlight following the murders, she had a change of heart and is now ready to share her story. “After four years of much thought and prayer, she chose to write a book that humanizes and honors Maggie and Paul,” her bio states.
What Crimes Did Alex Murdaugh Commit?
In addition to being found guilty of killing both Maggie and Paul, it was discovered Alex was stealing from his law firm and his clients for ten years. According to The Washington Post, it’s believed Alex stole the money to allegedly fund his opioid addiction and afford his family’s extravagant lifestyle.

NPR reported that Alex stole about $12 million from the law firm and his clients before he was arrested in 2021.
Alex was ultimately sentenced to an additional 40 years in prison for 22 federal financial crimes, which included conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud, money laundering and more, according to the United States Attorney’s Office District of South Carolina.
