Charlie Puth Lands Super Bowl 2026 National Anthem After Calling It One of the Hardest Songs Ever
Charlie Puth is officially headed to the Super Bowl — and he broke the news in the most Charlie Puth way possible.
On November 30, the NFL revealed its pregame ceremony lineup, announcing that Charlie, Brandi Carlile and Coco Jones will each perform one of the event’s three signature anthems.
Charlie is taking on the big one, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” while Carlile will perform “America the Beautiful,” and Jones will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Fred Beam and Julian Ortiz will interpret all three performances in American Sign Language.
Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez praised this year’s lineup, saying the three singers are “generational talents” and also noted the importance of the deaf performers who will join them onstage.
Shortly after the NFL’s announcement, Charlie posted a hilarious video on his social media accounts.
The singer posted a playful video where he attempts to explain the musical “complexities” of the anthem to a group of football players by breaking it down in game-day terms, using a giant whiteboard like he’s drawing up plays. It’s a callback to his signature TikTok videos, where he regularly teaches music theory to his millions of followers.
In the clip, he eventually pauses, looks around the locker room completely lost, and asks, “Whose house are we in?” The players shout “Our house!” over and over, eventually picking him up in celebration as he yells it back.
He captioned the video, “I can’t believe I’m saying this… I will be performing the National Anthem at Super Bowl LX.”
Fans immediately flooded Charlie’s comments with support.
“Professor Puth will be the only thing to make me care about sports,” one fan joked. Another added, “Yayyyyy, you are iconic for this, GO CHARLIE!!!”
Charlie is a four-time Grammy nominee and Golden Globe nominee, and has also just announced news of his upcoming studio album, Whatever’s Clever!, due in March 2026.
And another thing that’s due in Charlie’s life — a baby!
The “Attention” singer is expecting his very first child with wife Brooke Sansone. The singer announced the news in October 2025 with the premiere of his music video for “Changes,” which features Brooke cradling her baby bump.
