It's hard to believe it has been 15 years since Mark Wahlberg, aka Leo Davidson, crash landed on a planet ruled by apes — and leads a rebellion to free the human slaves.

Fast forward almost two decades, and most of the stars of the 2001 film, the sixth in the Planet of the Apes franchise, are still going strong in Hollywood.

Mark Wahlberg

Since starring in the 2001 film, the 45-year-old rapper turned actor has become one of Hollywood's top leading men with roles in hit movies such as Ted, Transformers and The Departed, which earned him an Oscar nomination. He will appear next in a film based on the Deepwater Horizon explosion.

Helena Bonham Carter

Known for her outlandish characters on the big screen, playing Ari was no stretch for the British actress, who is known for her roles as Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter franchise and Iracebeth in her most recent movie, Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Estella Warren

The Canadian beauty made her Hollywood debut in the science-fiction blockbuster as Daena. Fast forward 15 years, the now 37-year-old continues to act and will star in the upcoming TV series Age of the Living Dead.

Paul Giamatti

Despite the layers of makeup and orange fur, the veteran actor definitely came through as slave-trader Limbo. Currently, you can catch Paul as Chuck Rhoades on the Showtime series Billions.

Kris Kristofferson

The longtime actor portrayed Karubi, the father of Estella Warren's character, in the classic film. Today, the 80-year-old is still going strong and combines his love of movies and music in a career that includes acting and singing.

Tim Roth

Fun fact: the British actor passed on the role of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter franchise to play Thade in the Tim Burton film. More recently, Tim starred in Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, and will appear in the TV reboot of Twin Peaks.

Sadly, the larger-than-life actor, who portrayed Attar, passed away in 2012 at the age of 54.
