Rachael Kirkconnell Shuts Down Rumor She Was Spotted With Matt James After Split
Rachael Kirkconnell shut down a rumor that she was spotted with ex Matt James less than two weeks after he announced their split.
The rumor began to swirl when Gossip Instagram account Deuxmoi shared an anonymous tip on Sunday, January 26, that read, “Just left my apartment in kips bay and walked past matt james and rachael kirkconnell.”
Rachael, 28, quickly shut down the speculation by denying the claim in the comments section. “Hmm wasn’t me lol,” she wrote.
The former reality star made the comment just weeks after Matt, 33, revealed that he and Rachael called it quits after four years of dating.
“God, give Rachael and I strength to mend our broken hearts. Give us a peace about this decision to end our relationship that transcends worldly understanding,” he wrote alongside a photo of the pair meeting for the first time during his season of The Bachelor in a January 16 Instagram post. “Shower our friends and family with kindness and love to comfort us. And remind us that our Joy comes from you, Lord.”
Many fans were caught off guard by the announcement, as Matt had posted content with Rachael just hours before he shared the post.
Both Matt and Rachael have remained relatively quiet about their split, though an insider exclusively told Life & Style that she was “blindsided” by the breakup. “From the moment they started their romance, Matt and Rachael have always had a questionable relationship,” a source revealed in an article published on January 17. “Now that they’ve broken up for the second time, everyone wants to know one thing: ‘Was Rachael blindsided?’”
While the insider said that Rachael was caught off guard by the split, “her friends say she should have seen this coming.”

“There were many red flags. The biggest being that he’s had commitment issues from day one,” the source continued.
Meanwhile, Rachael’s sister, Trinity Kirkconnell, seemingly confirmed that she was blindsided by the split.
Bachelor superfan Gabby White previously posted a TikTok video questioning the timeline of their split after Matt posted a clip of him and Rachael enjoying beer and pizza in London just one day before he announced their breakup. While some fans speculated that Matt was obligated to post the video due to a partnership deal, Trinity, 22, revealed that wasn’t the case.
“Yea so they were still together when he was posting all that … just to give you some perspective on the timeline of things,” she wrote in the video’s comments section.
Matt and Rachael started dating after they met on his season of The Bachelor in 2021. They chose not to get engaged at the end of the season, though they wrapped the final episode as a couple.
As the episodes were airing, Rachael found herself at the center of a racism scandal when photos circulated online of her attending an antebellum-themed party in college. Matt announced that they broke up during the After the Final Rose episode, though they ultimately rekindled their romance months later.
